What is Geoforum?

Geoforum Denmark is the Danish Association for Geographic Information. It is an NGO.

The aim of Geoforum Denmark is to work nationally to promote the benefit of geographic information for the Danish society.

Geoforum Denmark was formed by the start of 2001 as a result of merging three older societies. The membership is well consolidated and counts private companies, governmental organisations, municipalities and education institutions as well as private persons – all in wide range of associations with Geographic Information (GI).

Geoforum contributes to the development of the geographic information sector in Denmark, by bridging the public and private stakeholders, by active debate within the GI area, by monitoring the trends and movements towards change, and by having representatives in a number of councils and committees, where we aim at getting influence on the future within Geographic Information.

Geoforum thinks that there is a need for a development to support the GI business in Denmark and has a strategy (in Danish) for this development. The vision is for Denmark to become a leading geodata nation and that Geoforum becomes the natural interest group for all professionals within the geodata area.
